Tail Health Privacy Policy

Quick Summary

Tail Health helps veterinarians record and track the tail health of animals, particularly calves. We collect the information needed to run the app and keep your assessment records available to you. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.

This policy explains how we handle personal information in Tail Health under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

1. What We Collect

• Account information: Your name and email address, to sign you in and identify you as the assessor.
• Farm and animal records: The information you enter or import, including farm names, animal identifiers (such as ear tags, birth IDs and electronic identification numbers, or EIDs), tail scores and notes.
• Access requests: If you ask to use Tail Health, we keep the name, email, practice or business and message you send us so we can review your request and set up your account. If we don't go ahead, we delete them within 3 months.
• Requests and messages: If you ask for more audits or about the vet practice plan, we keep the business name, invoice email, what you chose, any message you add and your account email, so we can reply and send an invoice. We also keep the message and your account email if you use "Missing a feature?".
• Audit use: A record that you started an audit (your account and the time, never the farm or animals), so we can count your free and bought audits.
• Support messages: If you contact us, the information you provide so we can respond to your request.

We also collect usage data, such as which features you use and crash reports, linked to your account, to fix problems and improve the app. It is processed by our analytics provider.

Tail Health does not collect your device's location, contacts, photos or advertising data, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Farm names and notes may contain information that identifies people. Please enter or import only information you are authorised to provide, and avoid including unnecessary personal information in your notes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to operate and support Tail Health, including to:

• Sign you in and identify the assessor for your records.
• Store and back up the farm and animal records you provide.
• Show your assessment history.
• Review requests for access, set up accounts and send you your sign-in details.
• Count your free and bought audits, reply to your requests and send invoices.
• Email you a code if you ask to reset your password.
• Understand how the app is used, so we can fix problems and improve it.
• Respond when you ask us for help.

We do not sell your information or use your Tail Health information for marketing or advertising.

3. Storage and Access

Your records are stored on your device and with our cloud hosting provider, which stores and processes them on our behalf to provide the service. Cloud storage may be outside New Zealand.

Your records are private to your account. We access them only if you ask us for support or when required by law. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Please keep your device and sign-in details secure.

4. Keeping and Deleting Your Information

We keep your records while you have a Tail Health account. You can delete your account and its associated records in the app under Settings → Delete account.

5. Your Privacy Rights

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you or request a correction at any time. Contact hello@tailhealth.app with your request. We may need to confirm your identity before providing information or making changes.

If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Tail Health changes. The current version will be available on this page, with the date of the latest update shown above.
